People have been asking me what chemical to look for in their skin care, I recently read an article from Green Living . These are the most common and most dangerous:
Propylene Glycol:
Cheap substitute for glycerine, it retains moisture
It is linked to possibe brain, liver and kidney abnormalities
It is banned in Europe
Sodium Lauryl:
Is a foaming agent, and is used in wetting agents used in garage floor cleaners and auto cleaning products
It is linked to kidney and liver damage. This is found in toothpaste, shampoos, body and shower gels
Banned in Europe and Central America
Diethanolamine (DEA)
works as an emollient in skin softening lotions and other personal care products and is suspected of increasing the risk of cancer
This is a BIG ONE Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl Paraben
Inhibitor to extend shelf life of products, they are widely used even though they are known to be toxic.
Study shows that paraben were found in samples of breast tumors, and is linked to breast cancer. This is found in facial masks, concealers, skin creams and foundations
It as been banned in Japan and Sweden
These are some of the reasons why I started Back to Nature to help inform people on the dangers of our skin care in today society.

Yay! You're blogging...
ReplyDeleteHave you read Stacy Malkan's book "Not Just a Pretty Face"?
Tells us all about the stuff that is in our products and how the government is not banning certain chemicals.
In Europe they have banned many chemicals from skin care, but for some reason US & Canada are dragging their heals on this practice.
Thanks for all the great info.
